چکیده
α,α-Dimethyl-4-[1-hydroxy-4-[4-(hydroxydiphenylmethyl)-1-piperidinyl]butyl]benzene acetic acid generically known as fexofenadine or carboxyterfenadine is a second generation H1-receptor antagonist, much widely used due to its non-sedative effects. Metal complexes of fexofenadine with various essential and trace elements of biological interest, have been synthesized and characterized by FT-IR, 1H-NMR, UV, CHN elemental analysis. Conductometric titration was carried out to determine the mole ratio of interaction of the drug and metal. Spectral data clearly showed the complexation of fexofenadine with nitrogen of the piperidine ring in case of magnesium, calcium, chromium and manganese complexes while oxygen of carboxylato group is involved in complexation with iron, cobalt nickel, copper, zinc and cadmium. Elemental analysis reveals monodentate character of these complexes. *Corresponding author: Saeed M Arayne, Department of Chemistry, University of Karachi, Karachi-75270, Pakistan, Tel: +923-332-101-255; E-mail: [email protected] Received April 23, 2014; Accepted May 28, 2014; Published June 02, 2014 Citation: Arayne SM, Sultana N, Shehnaz H, Haider A (2014) Synthesis and Characterization of α,α-Dimethyl-4-[1-Hydroxy-4-[4-(HydroxyldiphenylMethyl)-1Piperidinyl]Butyl] Benzeneacetic Acid Metal Complexes of Biological Interest. Spectrofluorimetric Determination of Some H1 Receptor Antagonist Drugs in Pharmaceutical Formulations and Biological Fluids
A validated simple, economic, selective, and stability indicating spectrofluorimetric method was developed for the determination of some antihistaminic H1 receptor antagonist drugs namely ebastine (EBS), cetirizine dihydrochloride (CTZ), and fexofenadine hydrochloride (FXD). The method is based on the reaction of the cited drugs with 2-cyanoacetamide in alkaline medium to give highly fluorescen...

متن کاملDuration of action of a broad range of selective κ-opioid receptor antagonists is positively correlated with c-Jun N-terminal kinase-1 activation.
The κ-opioid receptor is a widely expressed G-protein-coupled receptor that has been implicated in biological responses to pain, stress, anxiety, and depression, and its potential as a therapeutic target in these syndromes is becoming increasingly apparent. However, the prototypical selective κ-opioid antagonists have very long durations of action that have been attributed to c-Jun N-terminal k...
متن کاملSynthesis and characterization of some transition metal complexes of Schiff base derived from 2,4 - dihydroxybenzaldehyde
Abstract New N2O2 type Schiff base has been designed and synthesized by condensing 2,4 dihydroxy benzaldehyde and α-naphthylamine in ethanol. Solid metal complexes of the schiff base with Cu(II), Ni(II) and Zn(II) metal ion were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, magnetic susceptibility, molar conductance, IR, UV-Vis and ‘H NMR spectral studies. The data shows that the c...
متن کاملIn vitro studies of lanthanide complexes for the treatment of osteoporosis.
Lanthanide ions, Ln(III), are of interest in the treatment of bone density disorders because they are found to accumulate preferentially in bone (in vivo), have a stimulatory effect on bone formation, and exhibit an inhibitory effect on bone degradation (in vitro), altering the homeostasis of the bone cycle. In an effort to develop an orally active lanthanide drug, a series of 3-hydroxy-4-pyrid...
